Hawaii Foreclosure Homes

Origin of the Name Hawaii: Not sure but it may have come from the word "home" from the Polynesians.

It is Honolulu that is the capital of Hawaii. It is the largest of all of the cities and has the busiest harbor. The name means "sheltered harbor" but the historians are not sure when or by whom the city was first settled. The first non-Hawaiian was a Captain by the name of William Brown. He was of the English ship Butterworth (syrup) in the year 1794. Honolulu's prime export was sandalwood back then and was famous for whaling fisherman. When Hawaii became a state in 1959, Honolulu continued to be the capital of this wonderful state.

There are eight main islands that make up the state of Hawaii. They are Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lania, Maui, Niihau, Kahoolawe, and the main island of Hawaii. Lets talk a little about some of these islands.

The island of Kauai is in the northern most tip of the islands and also the oldest. It is filled with natural beauty and wonderful breathtaking landscapes. There are the sandy and sun-kissed shores of the ocean beaches. Seeing is believing so a boast tour would be in order.

Another Island is Oahu, where the state capital is and where the majority of the citizens live. It is filled with natural wonders and is booming with tourist sights and sounds. There is surfing, loads of history and is the home of that famous beach, Waikiki.

Molokai has about half of the population being native Hawaiians and has been somewhat preserved in its beauty and culture. The people here love the outdoors and go out of their way to keep it from getting too commercial.

Lanai is truly a romantic getaway. It is filled with luxury and privacy that newlyweds thrive for. There is not one traffic light on the island but, there are TWO golf courses.

Maui is the second largest island and is home the most wonderful beaches in the world. It is also a popular place to go sightseeing for whales.

Hawaii is the biggest island of them all and incorporates all that is needed to make everyone's wishes come true. Waterfalls, beaches, an active volcano, fish, snorkel, and scuba dive, everything any tourist or resident will ever need.
